Description

The operation theory of this type of sensors is based on electromagnetic induction, when metal object approaches sensor, eddy currents generated inside sensor will cause the oscillation circuit to decay, thereby triggering the switch signal. Inductive proximity switch are mainly composed of oscillators, detection coils (generating alternating magnetic fields ) signal processing circuits and output stages.

The oscillator generates high-frequency alternating current, creating an alternating magnetic field around the detection coil. When a metal object enters the magnetic field, it will generate eddy currents (for non-magnetic metals) or hysteresis losses (for magnetic metals) due to electromagnetic induction. Eddy currents or hysteresis effects will absorb oscillation energy, resulting in magnetic field attenuation, oscillation weakening, or cessation. This change is detected by the subsequent circuit and converted into an electrical signal. The signal processing circuit compares the degree of energy attenuation with a preset threshold and drives the output stage (such as a transistor or thyristor) to switch the switch state (on/off).
