Capacitive proximity sensor M18 thread Normally Open NPN

Description
The operation theory of this type of sensors is based on triggering switch action by detecting change in capacitance (changes in dielectric constant or electrode distance) when signal trigger (conductor or non-conductive medium) approaches sensor. Capacitive proximity switch mainly consists of two electrodes as two reference plates of capacitor, one electrode (measuring electrode) as part of sensing surface of switch, the other electrode as switch housing or ground housing. When the object is not approaching, a fixed capacitor is formed between the two plates, and the oscillation circuit is in a stationary state. When conductor approaches, it enters the electric field as new electrode, directly changing the distance or area between original electrodes, resulting in a significant increase in capacitance. When non-conductive medium(insulators, like liquid plastic) approaches, it will affect the capacitance value by changing the dielectric constant (ε) between the two plates. The larger the ε is, the more significant the change in capacitance.
